Candle Burning Instructions:

  • Always place candles in holders before lighting;
  • Remove any flammable decorations before lighting;
  • Never drop burned matches or other objects into candles;
  • Pour off molten wax if flame is too short;
  • Never let wicks exceed 1/2 inch in length; keep them trimmed to 1/4 inch;
  • Trim wick if a ball occurs at its top while burning. Blow out candle carefully so it doesn't spray, then trim wick to 1/4 inch;
  • Never burn any candle below 1 inch from bottom;
  • Do not burn candles in drafty locations to avoid dripping;
  • Keep lit candles away from children;
  • Never leave burning candles unattended.

Special Burning Instructions For Flower Candles:

The center candle of the flower may be burned and replaced as follows:

  • Burn the candle down until it is slightly above the petals. Further burning may melt or disfigure the petals. A stub will be left behind.
  • Cut or snap out the remainder of the center candle stub;
  • With a match, heat up the bottom of the refill candle and adhere it to the remaining center candle stub.

Wax Removal And Cleanup:

Although beeswax candles are much less likely to drip than paraffin candles, all candles may drip as it is impossible to control burning conditions. Should dripping occur, despite following proper burning instructions, the following suggestions have proven helpful with cleanup:

  • One of the easiest ways to remove wax is to chill the item in the freezer. This allows the wax to harden and makes for easier removal.
  • Wax may be removed from holders made of heat-tolerant materials by placing them in the oven AT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE TEMPERATURE on an old, raised edge cookie sheet. Line the sheet with paper towels to absorb the wax as it melts off the holder. It is best to keep the oven door open while doing this. Use additional paper towels to wipe off remaining wax.
  • Wax may be removed from fabric by first using the freezer method described above to chip off as much frozen wax as possible and then ironing out the remaining wax using paper towels between the fabric and iron to help blot up melted wax. Any remaining oily residue may then be removed by using a pre-wash spray such as "Shout" and laundering as usual following the pre-wash manufacturer's instructions. DRY CLEANING IS A LAST RESORT; but if you must, please be sure to tell the dry cleaner the source of the stain and all steps you've taken to remove the stain prior to dry cleaning. This will help the dry cleaner work more effectively on the problem.

Using Glass Candleholders:

New candles can be inserted indefinitely by following these instructions:

  • Remove the old candle and the metal clip left in the bottom before inserting a new candle. If this is not done the metal clip from the previous candle will tilt the new one and cause the flame to burn against the side of the cup and crack the glass;
  • Keep match sticks and other foreign matter out of the glass as it can act as an additional wick and cause oversized flame and cracking of the glass holder.

Household Uses For Beeswax Candles:

Beeswax has many household uses. It can be used to:

  • Lubricate sticky drawers, windows, irons and zippers;
